In brief

I completed my bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies in guidance and psychological counseling. I have worked at the university since 2006 and have been a full professor since 2020. At undergraduate and graduate level I teach school guidance, career guidance, addiction prevention and individual counseling practice.

My research focuses on adolescence and the school environment. Since my early studies on peer bullying, my interest has widened around the question of why a student struggles at school and what protects them. Today I study risk behaviours such as internet and gaming addiction, cryptocurrency and substance use together with protective processes such as emotion regulation, empathy, hope, self-esteem and family support.

A substantial part of my work has gone into developing and adapting scales so that these constructs can be measured reliably in Turkish. If a construct cannot be measured properly, no intervention programme built on it can be trusted; for that reason I treat measurement work not as preparation for research but as research itself.
